To the woman who went out of her way to inbox me to tell me that "dah hair deh nah work fi har" - Most times I accept and fix or ignore and move on, depending on whether or not the critique is constructive, but this one struck a nerve. Why? NOT because it was negative and about my appearance, I get those ALL the time but because I believe that we simply have not managed to LIBERATE ourselves from the mental grasp of slavery. Like if we head nuh look like a caucasian, Indian, Brazilian or Peruvian- we nuh pretty 😒 THIS HAIR is the hair that I was born with. THIS IS THE HAIR THAT GROWS OUT OF MY HEAD. With all its kinky coils and curls, I have embraced it and I love it. I made a decision to stop processing my hair and remove all the processed "residue" for many reasons, not because it was a fad but firstly because my scalp reacts terribly to the white crack we use to burn away our natural state and it damaged the actual hair . Secondly because I researched the ingredients and their long term side effects and I would rather not be in the percentage that gets cancer or a brain tumor because I feel the need for Caucasian bone straight hair or "laid edges". In the last few years I have discovered ALOT about myself and so much has changed as well. I have no urge to denounce the being that I am to fit social norms. I AM SAKINA DEER and there is only one, just like there is only one of each of you.
Please don't misunderstand, I'm not telling a soul fi go chop off dem hair, cuz it nuh easy! I still love playing dress up and looking different from time to time and when I do @natzroyale have whole heap of fantastic wigs. 😁 But when I remove them , I'm happy with the person that's under there, Kinks, Coils, Curls and all. 😊 #SlimTingSaki #EmbraceYou #NaturalWithNoApologies #LoveEveryInch #SelfLove #HairLove #JustLove #ShortHairDontCare #RAWmanagement #RAWandRising
